SetWright Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 7, 2026

SetWright is a local-first workout tracker for iPhone. The app does not require an account and has no advertising, tracking, behavioral analytics or developer-operated data server. This policy covers the app and support correspondence, not unrelated services on Kevin’s Universe.

Information on your iPhone

Workout records and notes, exercises, routines, Apple Health workout-link identifiers, coaching preferences, App Lock settings and rest-timer state are stored locally to provide the features you choose. SetWright does not provide cloud or device-to-device synchronization.

Optional Apple Health access

Access is read-only and requires your permission. SetWright can read body mass, steps, active energy, Apple exercise time, workout summaries and interval heart rate. It re-reads information from Apple Health when needed. Health samples are not copied into the workout database or encrypted workout backups. The app never writes to Apple Health.

Health information is not used for advertising, tracking, marketing, sale or data mining, and is not disclosed to the developer or third parties by the app. You can manage permissions in Apple Health or iOS Settings. The app remains usable without access.

Optional on-device coaching

When supported and enabled, Apple Intelligence runs on-device to explain app-verified workout facts or interpret selected workout notes. Health values are not included in these inputs. Prompts and responses are transient: the app does not save, log, transmit them to the developer or use them to train a model. Tested app rules control numerical targets and safety boundaries. Coaching is not medical advice.

Notifications and Live Activities

A rest timer may display a generic countdown in a local notification, on the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island or on a paired Apple Watch. It contains no exercise name, weight, workout note or Health value. iOS controls delivery, visibility, sound, haptics and Focus behavior.

Encrypted backups

Backups are created only when you request an export. Workout records, exercises, routines, import receipts and deletion records are encrypted on your iPhone using AES-GCM and a separate 256-bit recovery key. The key is not stored in the backup or uploaded by the app. Health samples, Health-workout links, raw imported source text, coaching preferences, App Lock settings and rest-timer state are excluded.

You choose the export destination. The developer cannot access or recover your backup or lost recovery key. Anyone with both the file and key may be able to restore its contents. Keep them separately and delete exported files from Files or your selected destination when no longer needed.

App Lock

Optional App Lock uses iOS device-owner authentication, such as Face ID or your passcode. SetWright receives only the authentication result, never biometric templates, face images, fingerprints or your passcode.

Information leaving the app

Normal app use does not send readable workout, Health, coaching or identity information to the developer or third parties. An encrypted backup leaves the app only through an export you choose.

During TestFlight testing, Apple provides developer-accessible crash reports and may provide tester/device details, screenshots, comments and contact information through its beta feedback service. This is separate from the app’s local database. Do not include personal workout or Health information, backup files or recovery keys in feedback.

Support email and this website

If you email support, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send, and use them to respond and troubleshoot. Please avoid personal workout or Health information. Contact us to request deletion of support correspondence; this does not delete records held independently by Apple or other services.

These web pages are hosted by Squarespace. Website requests, cookies and hosting practices are separate from the app’s local storage. See the Kevin’s Universe website privacy policy and Squarespace privacy policy for website-related information.

Deletion and retention

App records remain on your iPhone until removed through the app or by deleting the app. Deleting the app removes its local container, but not Apple Health records, exported backups or previously submitted feedback. Manage those separately in Apple Health, your backup destination and the feedback service. Apple and other services control their own retention under their policies. The app keeps no copy of your workout database on a developer server.
